Analysis Roadmap Update - Beta Preview, Part 2

This is part 2 of ASUG Analysis Office Roadmap Webcast.

Beta Preview - these slides are a preview of Beta upcoming version, subject to change

Figure 2 shows the planned sidepanel.  The multi select feature planned for after beta

Question and Answer

(note there were several questions, can't vouch for 100% accuracy in answers (typing)

 

Q: When can we expect to see scheduling "query prompt support" in Analysis for Office?

A: cannot confirm 100%, but we're currently looking for resources to deliver it by end of the year.

Q: When will SSO to HANA data sources with Analysis for Office be added? Right now, we have to input the password manually or configure  BOBJ to handle the HANA credentials.

A: Coming in planned innovations

Q: Is Analysis edition for Microsoft Office being deprictated like LiveOffice is due to the new Microsoft product and partnership?

A: No - Analysis Office is still for BW/BEx Data Query sources and SAP is planning to provide .UNX support for Live Office -

Q: When will the support for universes be available on Analysis for MS Office?

A: Not listed on this roadmap; .UNX support is planned for Live Office - see Q&A SAP BI Roadmap Future Direction - ASUG Webcast Part 3

Q: When are planned innovations (slide 14) being looked at for having the deployment completed?

A: Standard SAP answer for roadmaps is 6-18 months for planned innovations

Q: What about Excel 2013 support ? Are there any plans to provide integration between PowerQuery/PowerPivot and BW Queries as datasource ?

A: Excel 2013 is supported now per the PAM at service.sap.com/PAM

No plans to provide integration for PowerQuery/PowerPivot

Q: One of slides says that you can transform Analysis Office Apps to iPad Apps using Design Studio (DS). We can export to Design Studio but it does not seem to use the iPad template in DS but just a normal web template in DS. Am I missing something?

A: No, you are not - have you tried Smart Copy Paste to Design Studio to see if it can use the template?

Q: Will Analysis Office have the same functionality that BPC has today for planning?

A: AO does not take the place of BPC.  The EPM Excel client that can now be used to visualize BPC data and AO will start merging functionality

Q: If you add the empty row / columns will they stay there if you save the workbook and refresh later?

A: Yes the Beta version functionality enhancing the table crosstab structure that allows the empty row/columns to be used for formula and save the formulas with the workbook

Q: Is the scheduling feature available in the Analysis, edition for OLAP as well?

A: No, and it is not planned.  Look to Design Studio for the future

Q: Are there any SAP "Best Practice" documents for hosting BW-based Analysis for Office content within the SAP BO-BI 4.1 Launchpad interface..? (eg. Add-On Server/Services, User Rights & Preferences, Desktop settings & config).

A: Direct this to the SAP BI Platform team...

Q: is there any documention on security using Analysis Office against HANA Calculation views

A: Nothing specific for Analysis Office - security for HANA - similar to BW  - leverage BW security infrastructure

Q: Did you say that there is a required BI 4.1 add-on install in order to use the new scheduling feature within Advanced Analysis 1.4?

A: yes

Q: Follow-up to my question: Install on the server or client machine?

A: On the server

Q: Does Analysis Edition for OLAP get additional formatting options, Similar to Webi 4.0?

A: Only limited developments going on for A-OLAP - with AO enhancements - if clients could allow - could expose features and - not working yet

Q: Does Analysis for Office support HANA unbalanced hierarchies?

A: Yes

________________________________________________________________

 

 

Q: Can you clarify the filtering limitation on the new scheduling feature?

A: It doesn't support prompts

________________________________________________________________

 

 

Q: Any plans to restore 'missing' BEx workbook functionality? (e.g. Back to Start, Drill Across Sheets)

A: In some ways already there - reset data source ; Undo button several; if others - use idea place at ideas.sap.com
