Is SSO possible with SAP HANA and SAP BO Analysis office?

$

Hi All,

Can you please guide me to understand if SSO is possible for SAP BO Analysis Office on SAP HANA.

I found this Note: 1846640

Which mentions that it is currently not supported .

But want to know if there are any latest developments around this and future roadmap for support of SAO BO Analysis Office Excel/OLAP SSO support on SAP HANA?

Awaiting your response.

Analysis for Office stability issues

I have a recent install of Analysis for Office 1.4.5.2826, I think this the SP4.

I am not able to work with the data once it is access from HANA. As soon as I click in the sheet, Excel exits. I tried to enable logging but that also exits Excel.

My systems is:

Windows 8.1 64bit

Office 2013 64bit

I installed the 64bit version of Analysis and left all the features enabled.

I have a second PC that works fine with the above except it is Win7 Office 2010 32bit.

Thanks

How to keep Analysis for Office workbooks changing the datasource query

Hi all,

     We have many customers using complex Analysis for Office workbooks created by themselves, however they were using 3.x queries and now we need to replace the queries with 7.x queries with a different technical name.

    We tried by changing the datasource in "components", here we change the 3.x query for the new 7.x query. The problem is that the workbook layout is changed to the initial layout of the query, the workbook layouit saved by the user changes.

   Do you know a way to chenge the query behind keeping the layout of the workbook?

Thanks in advance

Analysis for Office SSO issues (HTTP request unouthorized, SSO ticket expired)

Hello,

We configured Windows AD SSO and SAP BW SSO, both working fine so far with BO Analysis for office (BO 4.1 SP1 Patch3, Analysis for Office 1.4).

Unfortunately after a while of inactivity (around 30-60min) in the excel client, the users receive the following error message when inserting a new query in analysis for office. I assume that it's a timeout issue, but I already increased the session.timeout-parameter in dsws.properties.

Any other ideas what the reason for that error could be? Thanks!

Scheduling Analysis for Office: Failed with error 31

Hi,

I scheduled an Analysis Workbook and basically it works fine, it refreshes the Excel sheet and stores it correctly in a folder of my file system.

Unfortunately in about 30% of the cases it fails randomly with the following error in instance manager: Precalculation of instance failed with error: 31.

In the log file I found the following entry:

- Information:@@@@@ Precalculation Start. (SharedAddIn 2007 Build 1.4.5.2826 Main method) @@@@@| 2014-01-27T04:32:07| com.sap.ip.bi.pioneer.precalculation.PcMain.ProcessLogPath() ()
- Error:System received an expired SSO ticket| 2014-01-27T04:35:36

| com.sap.ip.bi.pioneer.precalculation.PcProcessor.Process() ()

Normally we don't have any problems with SSO. Any ideas?

Is there a way to automate the selected VIEW of a hierarchy?

$

Im trying to automate the creation of multiple reports in BO using the analysis API. So far its working fine. I can:

- open a saved report

- change the filter values on every dimension

- change the variables / prompts of the report where needed

- save the refreshed report in a folder of my choice with a name of my choice.

and that as often as I want in one go.

that is all great! what I cannot control however is how HIERARCHIES are displayed.. when a user clicks through a hierarchy he/she can open the nodes he/she want to see. Is anyone aware of a SAP function that can automate this?

Example. Imagine this hierarchy:

ProdCat A

          Brand A

               Subbrand AA

               Subbrand AB

          Brand B

               Subbrand BA

               Subbrand BB

ProdCat B

          Brand C

               Subbrand CA

               Subbrand CB

the user can find the report in this stage:

[+] ProdCat A

[+] ProdCat B

...and then click on ProdCat A and then brand B until:

[-] ProdCat A

          [+] Brand A

          [-] Brand B

               Subbrand BA

               Subbrand BB

[+] ProdCat B

Now, is there a way that I can set this in a programmatic way with the API? ie "open the report and expand Prodcat A and Brand B" ?

separately, is there a programmatic way to say "Expand node x in this hierarchy to level 6", just like you can do in the menu?

I tried SAVING the report in the expanded state and it opens OK, but when you start filtering in other dimensions the drilling down is reset every now and then in an unpredictable way!

help is appreciated!

Disabling prompts in RRI (receiver)

Hi Experts,

I'd like to know if there's anyway to disable the prompts or functionality of a refresh of an RRI (receiver).  Not entirely sure if that's the correct term.

We have a report (R1) with line items and would be using the Go To functionality to access a second report (R2).  Here, R1 will be "throwing" R2 the parameters it used together with the line item information.  What I'm asking is if there's anyway to prevent the users to refresh R2 (ie disabling its prompts)

Hopefully, it wasn't too confusing.

Kind Regards and Many Thanks,

Mark

Using BI Launch Pad as a repository for Analysis for Office workbooks

$

Hi,

We are currently looking into using the BusinessObjects BI Launch pad as our repository for storing Analysis for Office workbooks but have picked up the following issues and would like to know if any of you have found any workarounds to these issues.

Workbook Linking

Our users make use of cell references between workbooks. These work fine on a file share but I have not seen a way to accommodate this if the workbooks are stored in the BI Launch Pad and are referencing each other. Any ideas?

Open Workbook through Browser

We could manage this issue with training our users to open a workbook only through Analysis for Office menu’s, but our users are used to using the BI Launch Pad and when you open a workbook through the browser it will open in excel (and we found a fix to ensure the Analysis tab is visible) but if you just select the save button it does not save back into the repository. Are there any plans to have tighter integration with BI Launch Pad ?

Thank you.

Pre-requisites for BO Analysis for Office 1.4..?

$

I read through Tammy's 1st steps article - BusinessObjects Analysis Office 1.4 is now GA - Your First Steps -  and the PAM for 1.4 that was reference within that Blog. (Thanks for that...!)

It appears that the pre-requisites for BO Analysis for Office 1.4 deployment are Windows-7 (no XP-Pro) on the desktop, and SAP BO BI-4.1 on the platform side.

Therefore, my "lagging" location with XP-Pro on the desktop, and SAP BO BI-4.0 on the platform-side is "stuck" until I can get them to complete their other upgrades to desktop OS & platform....

Anyone know of a work-around, or I am as "stuck" as I assume...?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Insert Component - Filter: SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources

$

When we try to add a filter via Insert Component - Filter we get the following error message:

"An exception occurred in one of the data sources.

SAP BI Add-in has disconnected all data sources. (ID-111007)"

"Nested exception. See inner exception below for more details:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

We get disconnected and have to close Analysis completely.

We are on version 1.3 SP5 (version 1.3.5.2288)

What could be the reason for this disconnection?

If we filter the same dimension via the Design Panel then we have no issues.

Kind regards,

Hi,

I´m looking for additional style set defintion for following custom styles

- Row/column for the display of scaling factors/currency for key figures -> this is combined in the set SAPMemberCellX/SAPMemberCell

- different style definition for subtotals -> it´s defined in the SAPReadOnlyDataTotalCells. Is there a way to distinguish between totals and subtotals?

Thanks

Unable to sort or add calculation when using BW query with characteristic structure

$

Dear All,

We are using a BW query (OLAP connection) with characteristic structure   in Analysis for Excel. The problem is the I can't do sorting on key figures values and if I want to add custom calculation then it throws an error. For example if I want to subtract Actual-Month from Budget-Month then it give "Formula (1) contains a formal error (BRAIN-209)" error. Please see attached.

SAP Note 1671259 explains about above error message but none of my calculation has got any time or date operator.

I can do the same with BW queries which do not have characteristic structure. Is this a limitation from BW or something that Analysis for Excel is missing?

Any help will be really appreciated.

CustomUI/Ribbon functionality appears in Quick access toolbar?!

$

Hello everyone,

I've got a question about the custom UI Ribbons in BOA for MS Office...

I read through this posting: http://scn.sap.com/message/13412892

and this documentation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa338202(v=office.12).aspx

...but still I don't find the right solution :-(

I edited the customUI.xml file so that it looks like this right now:

<mso:customUI xmlns:mso="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/01/customui" xmlns:AO="SBOP.AdvancedAnalysis.Addin.1">

<mso:ribbon>

<mso:qat>

<mso:documentControls>

<mso:control idQ="AO:com.sap.ip.bi.pioneer.core.command.refresh" visible="true"/>

<mso:control idQ="AO:com.sap.ip.bi.newpioneer.excel.display" visible="true"/>

<mso:control idQ="AO:com.sap.ip.bi.pioneer.core.command.togglePauseAutoRefresh" visible="true"/>

<mso:control idQ="AO:com.sap.ip.bi.newpioneer.excel.promptsmenu" visible="true"/>

<mso:control idQ="AO:com.sap.ip.bi.newpioneer.excel.settings.menu" visible="true"/>

<mso:control idQ="AO:com.sap.ip.bi.newpioneer.excel.settings.helpmenu" visible="true"/>

</mso:documentControls>

</mso:qat>

</mso:ribbon>

</mso:customUI>

I followed these steps:

1) Create New workbook

2) Options Quick Access Toolbar

3) Chose to modify "This Workbook" NOT "For all documents"

4) Add an analysis button

5) Save

... and basically everything was generated automatically, I just exchanged "doc:" to "AO:", and edited the first line.

The outcome looks like this... I find my buttons in the Quick Access Toolbar (blue), but not in the Analysis ribbon list (red)

Ribbons_Quick_Access.png

In the posting mentioned above it looks like it works as desired... but it just doesn't do in my version.

Does anybody see the error or could provide a correct version of the .xml file?

Thank you very much,

Martin
