Filter member

Hello,

We are using Analysis for office on top of HANA Analytical view. The Analytical view is based on a huge table of about 3B records. When the user try to filter on a member:

1.jpg

The following SQL is generated on the HANA side:

SELECT DISTINCT "AAA" FROM "BBB"."CCC" ORDER BY "AAA"  ASC  LIMIT 10001

For huge dimensions this query doesn't make scene and will never finish..

Is it possible to prevent from the users to create this LOV when filtering a member?

Thanks,

Amir

For reference see SAP BusinessObjects Analysis Edition for Office 2.0 is now in Ramp-up

Also see BusinessObjects Analysis Office 2.0 - Ramp-up, Observations Part 2  BusinessObjects Analysis Office Ramp-up 2.0 - new Smart Copy Save Query Features

and  BusinessObjects Analysis Office 2.0 - New Formatting Features

First, display the property panel as follows - Display Ribbon > Show Property View:

1fig.png

The above shows the features previously available by the ribbon - such as compact display in rows/columns and totals placement.

Within the datasource, you can set up the display for several measures all at once:

2fig.png

Next you can change the properties for a specific measure:

8measures.PNG

I can change the scaling/decimal places

9dimensions.PNG

The above are changes for a specific dimension.

I see the enhanced property view being used by analysts/accountants and not so much for the "consumer" persona of the workbook.

Ad sso and Analysis for excel

Hi,

We can't get sso to work between Analysis for excel and our BI4 server, I followed all the instructions in note 1785270 (addng kerberos details to dswsbobje xml and properties page). AD sso works fine with the BI launchpad but I can't get it to work in Analysis.

Were using 1.4 sp1 patch 9 for analysis and BI4.1 SP4 patch 2 on server.

It looks like the userid is not send with the request, the host name of the server is used.

Error in Tomcat is

Acquire TGT using AS Exchange

  [Krb5LoginModule] authentication failed

Client not found in Kerberos database (6).

Anyone having similar issues ?

A big thank you for any advice or tips :-)

Automatic Execution of the Workbook

Hi Team,

I have created a workbook by embedding three similar BEx queries in the Analysis for Microsoft Excel.

Now my requirement is to execute this workbook by itself and then send an email to the users. Is this possible?

I need this automation as the workbook takes 30 min long to execute and hence the users do not want to waste time in that.. and they need email or the report saved in some folder some thing like that

any ideas?

Thanks

Hello,

Did any one face a similar problem?

Business Objects Analysis for Excel dumps on Save Data in a Standard Input-ready query

Error when multiple rows of data is saved in Analysis. Works fine when a single row of data is saved.

Any pointers to find the probable cause are appreciated. Thanks.

Versions: BO Analysis for Excel Client (Version: 1.4.6)

Netweaver 7.3 SP 11

Steps:

Open a Standard delivered Input Ready query /ERP/COOM_A07_IRQ0001

In the Input template, enter values for multiple WBS Elements for a single period

Click on Save Data

Analysis Error occurred. Data is not saved.

Error Messages:

a) An exception occurred in one of the data sources.

Invalid program status\: RFC call BICS_PROV_GET_RESULT_SET returned an exception: INVALID_DATA_PROVIDER_HANDLE

Also, question on Analysis and Java.  Is BI-JAVA required for Bex queries to work on Analysis?

From what I gathered from scn, Java isn't a pre-requisite. However all the SAP Notes related to BO Analysis point to corrections or upgrade to BI-JAVA

Applying Number Formats

Hi,

In the properties of crosstab in components tab, we have an option "Apply Number Formats" (need to enable registry to view this option KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\NumberFormat) when we enable this option, the number formats should be applied after each navigation step. if disabled, the number formats should be set back to defaults after each navigation step. I have observed that there is no change in behavior (after refreshing or any navigation step) of number formats even when option is enabled or disabled. Observed the same behavior with "Apply Analysis Styles" as well. where default analysis styleset should be applied when refreshed.Have anyone observed this? Currently we are on Analysis for office 1.4.10.3290.

Hi everyone,

I need urgent support for one use case in our customer project.

I converted a BEx workbook to BO Analysis for Office via the converting function in the analysis file options.

This is a really big woorkbook with a lot of tabs and queries but I was able to convert it and have it as a BO analysis for office workbook.

After converting, I saved it onto our BO platform and tried to opened it right from the platform.

I just receive two error messages and a empty workbook:

The errors within the Log File are just saying stuff like

Programmatic Access to BW for Visual Studio

$

Hi,

I've recently started using SAP Analysis for Excel at work and I really like all the report I am able to create. I would like to take these reports one step further and rather than creating Excel reports, I would like to programmatically access the data source through Visual Studio and retrieve the necessary data for one of the applications I have already written.

Is this possible? What API or .DLL is required to access the data source directly? Are web services an option if an API is unavailable?

Thanks,

Alex

"Select All" option doesn't work as expected in the prompt panel

Environment

Using Analysis for Office version 1.4 (1.4.8.3163 to be precise) and BI 4.1 SP02 patch 6.

Issue
Can someone confirm that when using "Add lines using filter by member" option, you cannot use the "Select All" option unless you un-check one or more of the selected values in the prompt panel?

Most of our BEx queries have a combination of mandatory and optional prompts with and without authorization variables and when selecting the list of values i always see a "# Not Assigned" value in the list of prompt values. Not sure if the # value is preventing AFO from selecting all values.BEx analyzer allows you to select all values without any issue so would like to know if this is a defect or "design feature" of Analysis Office.

Any suggestions or workarounds are appreciated!

Connection to BW via BusinessObjects Platform

$

Hi guys,

We want our users to log onto BW via the BO platform. At the moment I can pull a BW user through into our BO system and they can log onto Analysis by selecting BO platform using SAP Authentication. The next step is that they need to log onto BW. We don't have SSO set up so again they use their BW userID and password.

select_data_source.jpg

What are the options open to us for allowing our users to log onto BW? By that I mean which of the connection options can we use? Currently I only see a list of systems when I select 'Local System' and it pulls thought the systems from my .ini file and I can connect ok to any system regardless of which BO system I connected to.

Can/should I be able to see a list of Systems that we want to give our users access to from the 'System' option from the conenctions pull-down?

I can't find any documentation that details how I go about doing this, if it's at all possible. I assume I do some security in the BO CMC?

I hope the above makes sense? Regards and thanks in advance,

Stephen

Re-use of data sources over several sheets

$

Hi all,

in order to improve performance I would like to define one data source (based on BEx) for the whole XLS that contains all of my product groups, but display a single product group per sheet.

My idea was to re-use the data source that contains all product groups, copy it to several sheets and filter on one of the product groups on each sheet. So far I haven't found any way to do this, it only works if I add a new data source per sheet and apply a filter on each sheet.

In WebI it's quite simple to re-use a data source in different sheets and to apply different filters on different tables or sheets - is there any way to achieve this in AfO?

Thanks in advance,

Bastian

Hi Folks,

I would like to know how scheduling of Advance Analysis for Office works. I could not see instance of the Analysis I created.

Can somebody tell me how does end user access Advance Analysis? Do they require Excel+AA installed all the item?

Insights on scheduling would be of great help.

Logon to HANA from Analysis for Office

$
0
0

Hi,

I have a question on how others have setup the connection to HANA for Analysis for Office. I am wanting to setup end users to access data from HANA using Analysis for Office.

According to the Administrator Guide the SAP HANA OLAP connections are currently not SSO compatible.  Also according to the guide an OLAP connection to the Hana database with authentication type Pre-defined cannot work with Analysis for Office because the pre-defined user (and password) is not exposed to local clients such as Analysis.

We have HANA Analytic views and Caculation views which we are accessing using Analysis for Office using an OLAP connection defined in the CMC. At the moment the way for users to access the HANA data is to log in to the HANA system through a SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform prompt and then a second login prompt to HANA. This is not a very good solution as users have to go through two prompts entering two user ids and passwords. Also this means that every end user has to have a HANA login as well rather than us being able to setup a pre-defined user in HANA like we can with Analysis for OLAP.

I am hoping that someone can shed some light on what a good solution might be.

Note:We have native HANA and we don’t have BW on HANA.

Thanks

Steve,

Report runs in Bex Analyzer but not in Analysis for Office

$

We have several reports that retrieve a large amount of data that can run in Bex Analyzer 7.0 but will not run in Analysis for Office 1.4.8 or 1.4.10

we get this error message:   ‘Size limit of result set exceeded’

Does anyone know what to do to get this to work?

We have set the following parameters:

BW version 7.30 SP7

AFO version 1.4.10

In BW - BICS_DA_RESULT_SET_LIMIT_MAX set to 5,000,000

In AFO -  HKEY_Current_user "resultsetsizelimit = "-1"

In RSRT we see this particular query returns 4.3 million cells ( under the 5 million set)

The query in SM04 shows the memory getting as high as 6GB

Each user is enable to use 20GB of memory

Quick Ribbon to Quickly Start Excel - BusinessObjects Analysis Office 2.0

Another new feature of Analysis Office 2.0, now in ramp-up, is the Quick Ribbon.  The Quick Ribbon allows the fast start-up of Excel without loading the Analysis add-in - the link to the Help is available at SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office 2.0 SP1 – SAP Help Portal Page

Analysis add-in is not loaded in Excel until you Insert a Data Source or Load menu entries:
