Hello Everyone,

I have a problem with Excel 2016 ( 64 bit) and SAP Analysis 2.2. Just recently we installed both and they are operating on Windows 7 enterprise platform. Every time when Analysis 2.2 is enabled and I close a file in excel, it crashes. To avoid that, I disable the add in and then close. Is there a solution to this? Is it related to a security patch or EMET file?

Please let us know if there is a solution to this?

Can Analysis for Office 2.2 run with EPM 10.0?

$

Hi,

We have SAP Analysis for Office 1.4 and the BPC EPM 10.0 running in concurrently on Client machines.

We were planning to upgrade AO to 2.2 and take advantage of both the Analysis & EPM Plugins. In the process the old EPM 10.0 would be uninstalled. '

However, during the course of testing the new EPM Plugin within AO 2.2, we found there are a lot of changes (especially in the VBA Macros) needed many of which are not Backward Compatible with the Old EPM 10.0.

In the interest of time, we are considering the option to upgrade only the Analysis Plugin for from 1.4 to 2.2 and keep the EPM Plugin as it is, i.e. on EPM 10.0.

I have not seen any documentation/Note describing this scenario and if this will work? Does anyone have know how if this work and what are the considerations to take.

Issue with macro to call the DMP with parameters passed - in Analysis office 2.2 EPM Plugin

Hi All,

Need help on the following scenario in Analysis office 2.2 EPM Plugin.

Like in our EPM addin, we were trying to run the Data manager package via VBA code by passing the required parameters.

We are referring to the following document --> http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-32636

But the same is not getting executed properly in Analysis office 2.2 EPM plugin. Issue is coming from that part where we are calling the DM automation class instance. Macro will end up showing the following error - "object reference not set to an instance of an object".

Please help us with this issue. Is there any prerequisite to be considered while running the same from AO 2.2 EPM Plugin.

Thanks in Advance.

LogOn LogOff in Analysis?

$

Hi all

we are using the regular LogOn when refreshing an Analysis Workbook / datasource.

I am aware of the API of Analysis to silently ( no dialog) Login onto BW by providing the

iAppCall = Application.Run("SAPLogon", "DS_1", "MyClient", "MyUser", "MyPWD", "EN")

API call.

In 3tier environment we really need a LogOff functionality, that might allow us to have 3 buttons like:

LogOn DEV

LogOn QA

LogOn Prod

to verify and test query data without closing AO Excel anytime we change the system by just having a LogOff and relogOn  via API & VBA

Does anyone know if there is a hidden feature ( @ Victor: maybe you have a hint )

If not I'll add it to the feature list of AO

Best regards

Joerg

Expand hierarchy to new / separate columns

$

I'm desperately looking for a possibility to expand hierarchies (by clicking "+") to a new column. Currently the expansion is only done in the same column. If I disable to display the level I expanded, I will lose this information.

I need this view for Pivot tables in Excel. This is similar to the "Classical Layout" or "Tabular Form" in Excel 2013.

To make this clear, my goal is the following:
I have for example two hierarchy nodes on level 1 --> now I extend both nodes and display only level 2 --> I can't see the text of level 1 node anymore --> my goal is to have the text of level 1 in Column A and level 2 in Column B (and level 3 in column C...)

I really hope that someone knows how to do this. So far this is a really great limitation for me.

Thanks a lot and best regards!

How to ignore worksheets from Analysis Office processing and improve performance

$

Hello Everyone,

Here I would like to showcase, how to ignore worksheets from Analysis Office processing and improve the initial loading performance.

Consider the scenario of AO workbook, which is quite slow in opening and has lot of worksheets with excel formulas and excel functionalities.

In such cases, lot of time is spent by AO, analysing all the worksheets in order to find out, if there are SAP formulas or data related to datasource.

If we mark all the worksheets, which do not contain any AO functionality as “Non-COF”, we can improve the loading time of workbook. This can be done under the “Components” tab of Display panel.

Let’s consider the AO workbook which has two worksheets, wherein first worksheet contains the Data source(from BW or HANA) and the second worksheet just refers the first worksheet and uses some excel formulas and functionalities to get the expected results.

Sheet1 -> Contains the Data source

Sheet3 -> Contains the excel formulas and functionalities

Please note that, by default, when the data source is added to any worksheet, it will be treated as Analysis Sheet Type. In this case, Sheet1 is having a data source from BW, and hence it’s marked as Analysis Type

Capture1.JPG

Let’s say “Sheet3” is not marked as “Non-COF Worksheet”, and marked as “Analysis”(which is default).

Capture2.JPG

Open the AO workbook and refresh it. Check the AO Logs by opening the .glf file.

Capture3.JPG

You can see that the data presented in Sheet3 is taken into consideration by AO, for processing.

Capture4.JPG

Let’s look into the other scenario, say “Sheet3” is marked as “Non-COF Worksheet”.

Capture5.JPG

Open the AO workbook and refresh it. Check the AO Logs. You can see that AO skips that worksheet and hence time spent for this checking would be cut-off, and the loading performance would be improved.

Capture6.JPG

Hope this helps.

Multiple Criteria for Analysis Prompt

$

Hey guys, first post so I hope I can explain exactly what I need (that I couldn't find).

We have some analysts that use BEx for reports since it allows the user to paste in multiple items to exclude from a query. When using Analysis 1.4, the Prompts window allows you to add additional lines by hitting the + sign to the right or using the 'Add Lines Using Filter by Members'. However, using that feature and copying in a list of thousands of ID numbers, it sets all those in as "=" as default. We need them to be "!=", but if you change the sign first in the drop down, it still defaults back when you add the lines in. Is there a way to exclude a long list of criteria numbers? Thanks!

Analysis for Office and BPC

$

I was hoping someone might be able to clarify a few things for me. We currently run BPC NW 10 on top of an on premise BW system. We have recently migrated our ECC and BOBJ instances to be hosted on HEC and for ECC to be migrated to HANA.

We are planning to role out a lot more BOBJ users with Analysis for Office. When I was reading up on Analysis for office I see notes related to EPM which is what I see with my BPC plugin. There seems to be some kind of convergence but I can't really find a complete picture of what'a happening.

Is the EPM/BPC plugin for NW merging with the Analysis for Office plugin? Will there be one plugin to rule them all? What should we be looking for as far as migrating users to be able to perform both BPC functions in BW and Analysis on BOBJ through Excel?

The software download center is a bit confusing to me at the moment. As of now we download the NW BPC Client plugin and a separate Analysis for Office Plugin. Can we ditch one?

Thanks for the help and clarification.

Question & Answer

Q: Contains a Plug-In for EXCEL & POWER POINT. An Date/Roadmap when we wil be able to embed into WORD documents..? Timeline to move all former BOBJ LIVE OFFICE functions into Analysis Office..?

A: See current slide -to be fixed in later release

Q: Just curious why is LiveOffice not listed?

A: That is part of future convergence - today's webcast covers 2.3, the next release.

Q: We do not use BPC, to use 2.3 do we need to be on BW7.4 SP15 or BW7.5 SP4? Or will it work on our current 7.3 version?

A: It should work on current 7.3 version. The Version listed was for embedded - so if you are not planning it is not required

Q: What does "Upload list of filter values" mean?

A: Upload from a text file to a filter

Q: If you upgrade to A4O 2.3 on the destop, should you also upgrade the A4O BIP server add-on to version 2.3? What versions of BIP does the A4O BIP server on-add support (for example, is BIP 4.1 SP6 compatiable with the A4O 2.3 BIP add-on)?

A: Minimum BI4.1 SP5 or 6 - not sure

Q: Have you seen issues of using the plug-ins with Excel 2013?

A: issues should be shared with SAP Support.

Q: Upgrading users to most recent version of Analysis for office require someone typically user with admin rights doing installation, executing .exe files. I am wondering if new version of Analysis Office offer automatic upgrade options to most current vers

A: No, not yet

Q: Do the plug-ins support SSO kerberos authentication?

A: yes, couple of SSO protocol - depends on what asking - from BI to HANA - no, only SAML

Q: We are using standard bpc 10.1 and analysis for bw. If we upgrade to 2.3, we still have these tool separate or we can use the combined tool

A: No separate installation

Q: does 2.3 is going to support office 365 or 2016?

A: supported in 2.2 latest SP

Q: What is a SAP strategy regarding publishing AO Workbook if we have SAP BW and BO Platform? If it depends on AO licence?

A: not sure of question - scheduling is available on BI platform

Q: Can we use AO for BO Universe?

A: Not yet - use Live Office

Boolean Operators

Hi experts,

I'm looking for an option to include boolean operators in my AFO report.

E.g. I want to calculate something if the measure value is bigger than zero.

(Actual costs > Plan costs) * ....  --> the statement (Actual costs > Plan costs) would return a 0 or 1 which I can use to further calculate with.

In the query designer I have the option to do this, I'm running AFO 2.2 - is there any way to do this?

Thanks in advance!
