I been trying to figure this out by researching but with little luck.
I want to create an application with excel vba that lets the user connect to HANA and be able to insert data into a hana view from vba.
any hints would be appreciated!
First I am borrowing this line from an SAP slide:
Source: SAP
Second, credit for hard work, determination and sharing the knowledge goes to Raf Boudewijns who wrote Building your own Embedded Analytics application - part 3.
Following his blogs, we can use "operational data providers" and standard BI content inside your SAP ERP system ("no HANA required here")
There is no replication
There is no BW modeling
Yes there are BEx queries but those are all pre-built with the enhancement packages.
First, after following Raf's blogs, you can activate the enhancement packages and the BI content. Then launch Analysis Office (my version is 1.4 SP9) and Insert Data Source
See example below:
So you can see all the sample content already activated when you activate the packages.
In this example, I select the Assets not posted (also a standard ECC report)
The result is in an Excel format, something many finance users and accountants want.
To me this is a great way to use "real-time" data from your ERP system with an easy tool to use like Analysis Office.
You can do this today from within your BW system - see SAP BusinessObjects Analysis Office 1.3 - Launcher (document/query/view) from backend
But what about your ERP system? Starting with enhancement package 5, there is a BW inside your ERP system. This example is based on an enhancement package 7 system. Below are the steps:
Step 1: Launch transaction RAOOE inside your ERP system
Step 2: Enter a BEx Query (note the BI content must be activated from within your ERP system)
Step 3: Enter the prompts, click OK
Step 4: Review Result

Does any one installed SAP BOA on MAC OS 10.9..5 ? If yes, appreciate your assistance.
I have a user who uses the add-in SAP Business Objects
Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office. The add-in will not show up in
Excel although it’s enabled. He uses Office 2013 32 bit and Windows 8.1
64 bit OS. I’ve installed the 32 bit version of the add-in. The
version of the add-in is 1.4 sp4. Can you tell me if this is compatible
with Windows 8.1 64 bit with Office 2013 32 bit? It works fine with Win7
x64 and Office 2013 x32.
Following up to Launching BusinessObjects Analysis Office inside your SAP ERP System I tried the PowerPoint launcher transaction from my ERP system mentioned SAP BusinessObjects Analysis Office 1.3 - Launcher (document/query/view) from backend but I encountered launcher errors so I moved on.
I opened Analysis for PowerPoint, selected insert BEx Query (from my ERP system) as shown below:
Here is the same prompt screen below:
Here are the results of the ERP BEx query inside PowerPoint:
So I would do this only for small amounts of data in your ERP result set.
Here is a video showing the same thing:
Dear All,
When I open a cube or Multi provider in analysis office then the field 0REQUID (request ID) is not available. In case of MP Infoprovider field is available but couldnt see Request ID field. Is there any way to bring in this field in AO?
Thanks.
Dear all,
Opening an EXCEL WorkBook I want to generate a list of the available BEx Queries in a WorkSheet, the same list as you see if you want to insert a new DataSource.
This should be done with VBA.
Any help is welcome.

Hi Experts,
For the COM API of Analysis, is there any documents explaining its usage and capability? I'm learn about its extensibility, just saw a few simple samples but didn't find a official document to reference to.
Thanks,

Hi,
We have a situation where some users have a different SID for their BW connection in their SAP Logon Pad (GUI). This problem is that workbooks that they have created can't be refreshed by other users unless they have the same SID.
A correct GUI connection has a SID of PW1. Some users have 00. Analysis hardcodes this SID within the report and it can be seen in the Information tab of the Design Panel.
Is there ANY way to change this within a report that has an incorrect SID (00 in this case). If the user changes the SID properties themselves within the GUI I'm 99% sure that any exisiting reports they have created will no longer be able to be refreshed.
Thanks,
Stephen
Hello Gurus,
I'm having a problem with the single sign on in Analysis for Microsoft Office Edition.
Is there any way to avoid this double log on? first in BO and after to BW. We want only the BO log on an then can open document created in analysis via BW but stored in BO.
Thank you for you help.

Hi all,
Having trouble migrating a BEx query onto Analysis for Excel. I have migrated many reports already and they look great.
However, this one report works and looks fine when run in BEx Analyser, and when migrated to Analysis it looks good initially. This report is looking at volume, sales, cost of goods sold etc.
In the volume section for the first couple of rows the volumes are correct and display as a quantity (as it does in BEx) but in Analysis when you scroll down further the volumes are displaying as $ amounts and percentages used in other columns (eg sales and gross margin %).
The same thing occurs throughout the report where Analysis looks like it has shifted the results into the wrong columns and now they are all mixed up (eg Vol column is showing sales, gross margin, gross margin %, while sales is showing volume, gross margin, gross margin % and so on and so forth).
Does anybody know why this has occurred? and how to fix it?
I am using Analysis version 1.4.6.
Thanks,
Darren
Hi,
I am building BO for Analysis (1.4) report with multiple view/sheet , using a single datasource/Query.
Problem I am facing is, different sheets have different views and if I alter view (using DISPLAY panel) in one of the sheet, it automatically changes for other sheets as well.
For example : In one of the sheet I just wanted to display measures in row and in another sheet I wanted show something different, can we achieve this?
Is there any kind of mechanism, where I can lock the view of each sheet?
Most relevant search result i got is below but it didn't help much.
Hi Experts
I am using BO Analysis tool for Microsoft Office Edition, version 4.x. (with BI 7.3 version), an EXCEL add-in.
I have a query built in BEx Query designer with a condition established. The condition is: If Column A is blank and Column B is blank and Column C is blank, then do not show the corresponding records in the output report.
Applying this condition, the query when run in BEx Analyzer showed the report correctly, as per the condition mentioned, but when the same query is run in BO Analysis Microsoft Office Edition (excel version), there is an error shown up and the report output is not shown.
Below is the error:
Invalid terms in condition <Condition Name> have been removed
Condition <Condition Name> does not contain any valid terms and has been set to inacti...
I do not absolutely understand why the report which was run properly with the applied condition in BEx analyzer, did not work in BO Analysis for MS Office edition.
Can anybody suggest me a way out to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance

Hello folks,
Is there a way to suppress/hide warnings in Analysis for excel when data is saved or retrieved?
There are some technical details in the warning which the users don't want to see.
Appreciate your help.
