SAP Analysis Office on Hana - default Measure to load

$

I have 12 measures in my analytic view which I would like by default to only initially display two of the 12 in the cross tab when using Analysis Office tool.  Currently all 12 measures are displayed in the tool and the users have to deselect the other 10 measures which are rarely used but need to remain.

Massive Perfomance issue by combining queries and oracle smart views within one Workbook

$

Dear all,

I request for your help/hints on a problem with the Analysis for Office 1.4.11.3353 regarding the combination of different datasource-types.

The Situation:

The workbook contents several sheets. Furthermore it uses oracle smart views (Connection to HFM Oracle database) and one SAP Queries which get triggered by a macro.

The Problem:

The Perfomance of the workbook is extremely low. If i open the .xlsm file via Excel the Workbook is starting fast, but if i'm using Analysis for Office to open the workbook it takes more than 10 Minutes. Interesting: The query will be triggered by a macro manually and the connection to the Oracle Smart Views aren't activated  - so that shouldn't be the problem.

What has been done so far:

- Starting the workbook via Analysis for Office only with Oracle Smart Views --> Fast start

- Starting the woorkook via Analysis for Office containing only the SAP Query --> Fast start

- Bringing both together --> very slow start

- I tested another query as well combined by the existing views --> very slow start

- Created a new workbook by starting with oracle views and extended it by the query later on --> very slow start

- Tried it the opposite way by starting with the query --> very long loading scene

- Deactivated all makros and links. I deleted a bunch of the existing sheets within the excel file too. But it didn't help --> very slow start

What else can i try? Made somebody the same experience?

Thanks everybody

Matthias

"X" in result row when summing up hierarchies

Hello,

we are on an SAP BW environment in Analysis for Office 1.4,  in the result row, we get "X" in  a summary field, I suspect it is trying to sum up a "blank" row. If this is the case, is there a way to change "Blank" to "0" so the numbers sum up properly instead of "X" in "Analysis for office" or does this have to be done in the "BEx query"?

If "X" represents something else, please let me know how get the results row to summarize properly?

Thanks

AO 32Bit crashes with Office13(32bit) on Win8.1

Dear experts,

I have a strange issue with my office analysis: It crashes sometimes, e.g: OA freezes and it does not react while moving in data cells, but the menu items still react.

System:

Windows 8.1 64 bit (8GB RAM)

MS Office/Excel 13 32 bit

Office analysis 1.4.11.3353

more details:

I have several OA sheets opened, move around and then suddenly, mostly in one excel instance only, the mouse pointer "freezes" and I cannot select any datacell anymore.

BUT I can select data cells by using the keyboard arrow keys.

When I then close OA, it's crashing, the famous windows window opens and restarts the whole again.

As far as I know I am most actual - but maybe I havent found a needed patch or the like.

If needed, I can provide the following:

SAPAdvancedAnalysisXLS.log

here's an extract of the log:

Error:    General .NET Exception:

Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x800401A8

   bei Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.WorkbookClass.get_Name()

   bei com.sap.ip.bi.pioneer.addins.xlwrap.WorkbookWrapBase.<get_Name>b__f()

    | 2015-04-23T13:21:27    | com.sap.ip.bi.pioneer.excel.utils.EaExcelAccessor.AccessXlReturn() ()

Can anyone point me towards a solution?

SBOP Analysis for MS Office 2.0 SP Levels

After installing SBOP Analysis for MS Office 2.0 on my PC, I wanted to get on the latest SP and patch level. According to the Support Packages and Patches section in the SAP Portal, they have released SP00, SP01 and SP02. Like most other SAP products, I do not need to install SP00 or SP01 if I'm installing SP02 correct? All 3 are Patch Level 0, so I'm assuming just installing SP02 is fine for this product, I just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the assistance in advance!

AO getting uninstalled when SAP GUI installation failed.

Hi,

All of our users have upgraded to AO 1.4 SP10 recently. Now there is an SAP BW 7.3 (GUI) upgrade scheduled and for few of the users the installation got failed. They were surprised to find that Analysis for office has been removed/uninstalled form their PC after BW 7.3 (GUI) installation failed. Can someone let us know if they had faced similar issue and what could be the reason for this type of behavior? Does SAP BW GUI show this type of regression at the time of failed installations ? AO was working fine for whom the 7.3 installation was successful. We need to find the root cause as thousands of users who are receiving SAP BW 7.3 update are bound to face this issue.

Thanks,

Satya Rajesh

Hi all,

I've a issue to open a SAP BW query with SAP GUI 730.

After edit and save the query with SAP GUI 740, we can't open this query with the SAP GUI 730 any more.

The error message is:

Error: Authorization Change not available for Query "QUERY_NAME"

There is any way to be possible to open with the old version of SAP GUI 730?

Tks,

Launch Query Designer from AO greyed out after GUI 7.40 install

I have AO version 1.4.8.  Launching Query Designer from AO worked before installing SAP GUI for Windows 740 and Query Designer BI AddOn based on 7.40 SP0 Revision 739.  Now that the new SAP GUI/Query Designer is installed...under settings the option Show "Launch  Query Designer" in Tools Group is greyed out so I can not check it.

I did have SAP GUI 7.30 Patch 9.  Query Designer BI AddOn based on 7.30 SP3 Revision 699 and was able to check it...and it worked.

Anybody having issues with this combo?

Kind regards,

Kelly

Problem filtering a line

Hi,

I'm using Analysis for office 1.4.11 and I have realised that whether I filter one dimension of a query and, I save that query as an excel file, when I open that excel with the Analysis then the filtered dimension only has the options selected previously. The problem is that I don't see the rest of available options and can't change the selection.

Can anybody help me?

Regards.

Launching analysis for office with a macro

$

Hi guys,

I have a small issue with launching Analysis for Office. I manage to boot it up with: Application.COMAddIns("SBOP.AdvancedAnalysis.Addin.1").Connect = True

Then I use  Application.Run("SAPLogon", "DS_1", "XXX", "XXXXXX", "XXXXXX")  to log in.

After all this I try to set a parameter and refresh my query

Call Application.Run("SAPSetRefreshBehaviour", "off")

Call Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "PauseVariableSubmit", "On")

Call Application.Run("SAPSetVariable", "ZFISCPR2", sPeriod, "INPUT_STRING", "DS_1")

Call Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "PauseVariableSubmit", "Off")

Call Application.Run("SAPSetRefreshBehaviour", "On")

Now this will work ONLY if I activate analysis for office by refreshing the query up front. If I do not do it I get:
     Analysis ran by macro.png

So the tool launches but it launches in this weird kind of stasis, where it does not display anything.

Is there a command I can do to force it to run properly? I have a idea to make a very small background query and refresh that but it is a bit fiddly and would require the query to be present in the file.

And yes I have considered to refresh it at the start but then I:

1. Refresh

2. Change the properties

3. Refresh again

Which for me is bad practice.

Adam

Hi All,

I just tried using the newly released Analysis Office 2.0 SP02, but I got problems firsthand.

When I tried to Insert Data Source> Select Data Source, I got error message Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I never encountered this kind of problem in version 1.4, and I already checked the PAM too.

Thanks in advance,

Donnie

Question about Analisys for Office Navigation in Excel

Using SAP Analysis for Office, for Excel, I am searching to have a functionality that I’m not sure it exist: Exporing a SAP BW cube, I want to write directly over the Excel spreadsheet the name of a dimension member (not choosing it in the design panel), and refresh to retrieve the member data. I know this is possible using SAPGetData formula, but, It is possible to retrieve the data directly without to have to use formulas?

Thanks in advance

Issues with Analysis for Office in Citrix environment

$

Hello,

is anyone using Analysis for Office in Citrix environment?

We have an issue while opening Analysis Workbooks from BI Launchpad.

Analysis for office starts - unfortunately without opening the Workbook. I can test the functionality directly on BO-Windows-Servers - which is working fine. So I suppose this must be Citrix related.

Are there any specific "Citrix" settings? Admin Guide isn't very helpful in this issue.

Thanks + Best regards,

Analysis for Office and Bex Analyzer in same workbook compatiblity

$

We have users moving off Bex Analyzer 3.5 to AFO 1.4.10

The users are opening their Bex Analyzer workbook in AFO

Inserting a new sheet with the new Bex 7.0 query

Then leaving the sheet with the old Bex 3.5 query.   They do not refresh the old queries.  Just leave in workbook for reference

Save the workbook and use in AFO

The question is:

Can this cause a problem?

I see in the links one of the following:

BexAnalyzer.xla
SAPBex.xla

The reason I think it might cause problems is because we have had occasions when a workbook looses it crosstab connections.

Add Lines Using Filter By Member ("Select All" scenario)

$

Hi everyone,

I have noticed many incidents sent to Analysis for Office team in SAP where the scenario is related to the functionality "Add Lines Using Filter By Member" and the "select all" option.

add_lines1.png

add_lines2.png

The issue reported is that when selecting all members, the values are not being sent to the prompt and in case of a mandatory variable, it is not possible to select all members.

This is by design. When pushing the "Add Lines Using Filter By Member" it is possible to select several members. When checking "Select All" and closing this dialog the prompt screen shows an empty field.

This is because an empty field means that this variable shows all members (empty == Select All).

In case of a mandatory variable it's not possible to close the prompt screen when having chosen "Select All" / empty field. In this case the design of the query forces you to not display all values but restrict the result set.

If you want to be able to "Select All" members, you have to set the variable as optional in your query definition, and not mandatory.

Filipe
